Karkade is the petals of the Sudanese rose, a type of hibiscus. Fruity aroma, sour, slightly tart taste and a refreshing aftertaste. Reminiscent of red currants.

The petals are collected in spring and summer in the provinces of Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Yunnan and Sichuan. It can be brewed as an infusion or by straining in a glass or porcelain. Use water at a temperature of 80°C and wait from 30 seconds to a few minutes.

Karkade also brews well in cold water, which is good for summer heat and lowers blood pressure. The vitamin infusion is also used to rinse hair and wash the face.
