Da Hong Pao Zhang Lao Shi (from Master Zhang), AA, 2025
This Da Hong Pao takes on a completely new sound, stripped of its banality. Five gentle heats refine the sweetness of the flavor. Notes of sweet baked apple, caramelized hazelnuts, and a creamy aftertaste are noticeable.
Matte, smoky leaves with a subtle purple tint. Intense, dense aroma with a hint of steak, prepared in pepper and spices, bread on the fire, plum. Noticeable notes of sweet baked apple, caramelized hazelnuts and a creamy aftertaste. An amber-hued infusion with a reddish-brown glow.
This tea is so perfectly matched that Da Hong Pao gains a completely new sound devoid of banality. Master Zhang did a great job. And five gentle warmings refined the sweetness of the taste.
How to brew
Steaming
- Teaware: clay or ceramic teapot, gaiwan
- Water: 90-95°C
- Ratio of dry tea leaves: 3-4 g per 100 ml of water
Brew in short infusions of 5-10 seconds, gradually increasing the time by 10-15 seconds.
The flavor remains consistent over 6-7 infusions.
Infusion method
- Teaware: glass or ceramic teapot
- Water: 90-95°C
- Ratio of dry tea leaves: 4-6 g per 500 ml of water
Infuse for 3-4 minutes
