Dian Hong Kao Xiang, A, autumn 2025
Red tea from Yunnan, with its aroma of bread and honey, reveals a thick, cognac-colored infusion. Its delicate flavor features notes of rye bread, buckwheat honey, and gingerbread.
The dried leaves are quite large, uniformly dark brown, with occasional flecks of golden, fuzzy buds and small branches. The aroma is fresh and delicate, with hints of honey and chocolate when warmed by the breath.
The infusion is an intense reddish-brown color. The aroma reveals a rich, sweet, baked bouquet: dark honey, blooming cherry orchard, and dense rye pastry. The tea's flavor is very sweet, honey-like and bready, lingering in the aftertaste, with a slight astringency characteristic of Dianhong teas. It is medium-bodied and not bitter.
This is an ideal everyday red tea in terms of price and quality. It's perfect for autumn and winter evenings to relax and warm up. It's also perfect for winter walks if brewed in a thermos. It has a tea-like quality and a medium-intensity effect. It clears the mind, slightly invigorates, and inspires.
