An Evening with a Tea Technologist: Tea from Nepal
On Saturday, May 30th, we'll discuss a new, interesting and little-known tea region — Nepal — classic and experimental tea processing methods, tea cultivars, and how flavor is created before brewing.
We'll taste four teas and explore the story behind each:
- White tea Morning Dew — a classic white tea and why it's not made in Nepal.
- Premium Green from Ilam — green tea, the characteristics of local tea cultivars, and the influence of the region on flavor.
- Anaerobic Oolong — an oolong that underwent anaerobically fermented beer for three days: what, why, and how.
- Smoky Gold — smoked black tea with a terroir interpretation.
This won't be a lecture "about tea in general," but an evening about specific origins, technologies, and experiments — with tastings, questions, and lively discussion.
For those who want to better understand tea, try new things, and see Nepal not as an “alternative to Darjeeling,” but as an independent region with its own style.
Join us and drink the best tea!
